A TIME OF CRISIS |
|
As long as the world is turning and spinning, we're gonna be dizzy and we're gonna make mistakes. Mel Brooks |
| Jack Tarzan took his wife, Betty Chimpo, from the Tigeres-Lyon Clinic the afternoon after an embryo was implanted in a donated womb. Betty, the mother of six sons (all lions which should give one a real clue as to Betty's choice of species when in the throes of passion and ensuing nuptials), was going to attempt to give, what she hoped would be, her last husband a cub of his own. She stayed in bed in Jack's lovely and rambling hill country home for an entire week to make sure everything within her body was stabilized to allow the pregnancy to take hold.
Sam Simba and his wife, Tawny Tigeres, invited his litter mate, Shane Simba and his wife, Alexandra to dinner at their Mara River estate one star studded evening. There, as their wives chatted amiably in another room, Sam apprised his brother of the difficulties another brother was having with his damnable wife.
"Your old flame and mine, Johanna Delacroix is giving Chris hell about granting him a divorce. She wants a shit load of property and money before she'll consent to sign," said Sam, lighting the pipe he had taken to smoking in the evenings after dinner.
Shane appeared in deep thought. "I'll take care of the matter, Sam. Tell Chris not to worry. He's doing a terrific job of the post I gave him in Tanzania."
Sam didn't press his brother about the details, simply gave him Johanna's address where she was living in a rented apartment in the Mara. The less he knew about Shane's shenanigans the better off he'd be, he thought to himself.
Georgy Simba and her siblings, Sunny and small Cindy, were spending a weekend at their father's bush home which no longer included among its tenants, his wife Caroline Cheetah Simba. Caroline had filed for a divorce from the minister of justice in Shane Simba's cabinet. On Sunday morning early, Sloane phoned Lucy Cougar and invited her to bring her kids and picnic with his group. Lucy was delighted to do so.
Georgy was fighting terrific morning sickness from her early pregnancy with her cousin, Sean Simba. Terrified of being found out, Georgy would make frequent runs to the nearest available bathroom . She had lost a great deal of weight as a result of the early stage before the mother begins to pile on the pounds or kilos. Lucy, being a young mother, noticed the look on Georgy's face just before she made a hasty exit. At one point, in real concern, for Lucy is a caring animal and quite maternal, she followed Georgy upstairs and to the bathroom whose door she promptly closed and locked. Lucy, standing outside the closed entrance, heard the tell tale sounds of nausea. Lucy was a cousin of Georgy's on the Cougar side. She remembered the adorable cub days of the dark haired Georgy. She waited until Georgy emerged shaking from her physical ordeal. Seeing Lucy standing there with large empathetic eyes, Georgy put her head on Lucy's shoulder and began to cry. Naturally, there was an intimate session in the room Georgy used while visiting her dad. Georgy spewed forth the squalid details of her sexual liaison with her cousin, Sean Simba. Lucy had spent one night only with the President's oldest son and knew what Georgy was dealing with. Lucy's take on Sean was that he was firmly in the mold of his father who had been a complete rounder until meeting his latest wife, Alexandra, who seemed to have cooled his jets considerably. Add to these inherited propensities the youthful age factor and Lucy could see that Georgy was going to get nowhere in this situation. A further factor of their blood kinship threw up a stumbling block of major proportions. Lucy sighed and smoothed Georgy's tumbled locks and they made their way downstairs to the waiting picnickers..
Georgy is comforted by Lucy Cougar, her cousin and dad's new love interest...
Johanna Delacroix Simba opened her apartment door to find Shane Simba and his Masai guards standing there. She gasped but invited the threesome inside.
"I am still in the process of getting settled, but would you like a drink, Shane?" she asked, wetting her lips from the lingering desire she still felt for him.
"No," he said, remaining in his standing position for he had no intention of sitting down. "You don't need to complete your unpacking, Johanna. I am deporting you from Kenya. You will sign the divorce papers from Chris and ready your things. Your Mombasa home will be confiscated also. Now pack for you will be leaving two days from now. I will send my car to take you to the airport. The ticket will be purchased by me. The flight will send you back to England where I believe your family resides, if I remember correctly. I will put a small amount of money in your bank account as a token for the sexual favors you have done for my brothers and me. I now bid you a good day..oh, and do not show your face in Kenya again. Be warned, a return to this country would be detrimental to your health."
His eyes were sub-zero, his voice glacial. She knew this lion well - well enough to know that you didn't step on his toes - only did what he instructed. She was too shocked to open her mouth and protest. Her heart was pounding; her palms sweaty as he, followed by his guards, exited her apartment, neglecting to close the door behind them.
Shane sends his former lover, Johanna, into exile from Kenya....
That night, already plastered to the gills, Johanna hailed a taxi and went to the Pub where she told those assembled at the bar of her plight and exile at the hands of President Shane Simba. Among those at the bar were Ashley Lyon and his pal, Luke Leoparde, having a quick drink before heading to their respective homes. At the spiel from Johanna, Luke cast green eyes at Ashley. Ashley felt a chill run down his spine. He had impregnated Shane's daughter but had, thank God, loved and married her. He had known all along that the lion president had a ruthless streak. This could have been his fate or worse, he thought and shuddered.
One last thing Johanna did, once safely on the plane to England, was to place a call to Alexandra Simba at the State House. When the First Lady came on the phone, Johanna told her of her husband's visit. She failed to mention that he had only come to deport her. She let the real reason for his visit be cloaked in ambiguity. Alexandra put down the phone in dismay. She stared dazed at her children who were playing around Bernice Bear's feet in the office, the kindly bear having brought some new trinkets to work for the twins.
An elated Chris Simba received the news that Johanna had not only granted him a divorce but that she was demanding no money or properties. She had also been deported from Kenya. Sam alluded to the fact that Shane had, as he put it, 'had a word with Johanna'. Chris was over the moon. He and Caitlin Cougar celebrated that night with Champagne and lobster.
Shane Simba was about to have a rough day but he didn't know it yet. He had coffee in his office and went over some paper work with me. I was still there when Sloane Simba asked his half brother if he would mind walking the stairs to his office. Shane, slightly perplexed at the switcheroo in protocol, consented. He entered Sloane's office to find the lion pacing the floor.
"What's going on, Sloane?" he asked the minister of justice.
"I am resigning this post, Shane," stated Sloane with a constricted voice made that way by the anguish of the moment.
"What? Resigning your post? What the hell for? What is going on with you, Sloane?"
"My Georgy," he rasped, breaking on a sob. "..she's pregnant by your damn son, Sean."
At that declaration, Sloane began to slump. He was quickly lifted from his sag and led to a chair by Shane.
"Dear God, Sloane, is this true?" asked the equally shocked and dismayed Shane.
"Yes, yes, it is, Shane. My Georgy is ruined," he sobbed.
"For starters, you are not to resign your post, Sloane. You're my brother. I love and need you here. You are one of my mainstays - my help mate in this presidency. We will sort this thing out with our children."
Shane went to the door and summoned Marla Meerkat to the room.
"Marla, please have the houseboy bring a bottle of cognac and two glasses, if you don't mind," was Shane's request.
"Right away, Mr. President," said Marla, scurrying out to do his bidding.
Shane had just returned from Sloane's office. He seemed distraught as he passed through to his inner sanctum. A few minutes passed before Alexandra, with an unusually stern look on her face, passed through saying nothing to the staff. She went directly to Shane's door and entered his office.
"Did you go and visit Johanna Delacroix a few days ago?" asked Alexandra, her eyes filling with unshed tears, her voice as raw as a wintry wind.
"Yes, Alex, I did go for a reason. How did you find out?"
"She just called me and said she had a visit from you, Shane."
"She is supposed to be on a plane to England..."
"I warned you of seeing other women before I married you," she cried.
She turned and fled the office before he could stop her, having been interrupted by a call saying that there were more labor strikes taking place in Nairobi.
I boarded the helicopter with Shane right away. We were to go to Nairobi and try to intercede in the labor dispute that was paralyzing the city.
Shane speaks with a protestor in Nairobi.....
"Where are Mrs. Simba and the children?" asked Shane as she placed a tray with his whiskey and glass before him.
"Mrs. Simba took Tanya and Sacha and their nannies somewhere. She didn't say where, Sir," offered the maid in a timid manner.
"Will she be gone long?" asked Shane, with with growing apprehension.
"She took their luggage, President Simba. She told us she wouldn't be back and to take care of ourselves and you."
"Oh dear God," he roared, spilling whiskey on his leg as he stood abruptly.
He became frantic, phoning Alexandra's various plantation homes as well as repeatedly calling her cell phone number - all to no avail. He flew to the plantations in the Rift Valley to find her not there. Remembering she had stayed with a friend before, he went to her home also. Shane phoned her relatives in England to find them as perplexed as he was by her disappearance. He completely forgot about Sean Simba and his pregnant cousin, Georgy. He was zeroed in on finding his wife and babies.
Shane was a horror at the office. He roared, snarled and growled at everyone. He so greatly resembled a wild lion in character that I wouldn't have been surprised to see him without clothes and licking his testicles. This was totally unlike anything any of us had ever seen in the very civilized and elegant male lion that runs our country. Shane Simba has his ruthless side but one would never know it working around him. With us he is the smoothest of the smooth, a veritable portrait of unflappable sophistication. During this time, a small squib in the Masai Mara Daily apprised us of the fact that Johanna Delacroix had been found dead in a rented flat in London. Bludgeoned to death with a bullet wound to the head for good measure.
